Wood Pottery Rib Set - 3 Ribs

This set of 3 imported water-resistant hardwood ribs represent the basic shapes needed for wheel-throwing, hand building as well as creating large figurative sculpture in water-base ceramic clay.

The oval rib is primarily used for convex and concave shaping of medium to large pots whole on the wheel. The straight edges on the paddle rib are used for creating straight walls of cylinder vessels; its rounded edge can be used for footing or shaping of the inside pot while on the wheel. The rectangular rib is ideal for creating smooth, intricate curves and convex/concave sides on the piece; its notch is designed for grooving and design work.

Approximate sizes at the ribs' longest and widest sides:

• oval rib: 4 1/4" long by 2 1/2" wide
• paddle rib: 4 1/4" long by 1 7/8" wide
• rectangular rib: 4" long by 2 1/4" wide
